I’ve had many people criticizing me for not including the chocolate sauce recipe in my last post. I explained to them this sauce is so versatile it deserved it’s own post. So here it is.
Home Made Chocolate Sauce
recipe courtesy of freeeats.com
1/4 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
2/3 C packed brown sugar
1/2 C cocoa powder
1/4 C water
1/4 C brewed coffee
1 Tbs vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients except vanilla extract in medium sized saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir slowly with a whisk to combine, allowing all ingredients to melt and incorporate.
Increase the heat to medium and allow the mixture to come to a simmer while stirring frequently. Allow the mixture to simmer and bubble for 2-3 minutes and then remove from heat. Let stand for a few minutes and then stir in vanilla extract.
Pour into glass jar and store in refrigerator. The sauce will look quite thin when you first pour it into the jar, but it will thicken after it cools in the fridge. When chilled the sauce will remain thick and pourable right out of the refrigerator, or you can warm it a bit before using.
As previously mentioned this sauce is so versatile it really goes with everything. I use it for everything from complementing cupcakes to topping ice cream! I even dipped strawberries and cookies in it. Use it for what you like but you have to make it. When I’ve had a rough day sometimes I’ll put a little in my hair. It is super rich and the espresso gives it a beautiful kick you would not expect. Next time I plan on drizzling it over some sugar cookies. Oh, the swooning will be grand for that I tell you!
